Sydney PrePurchase was founded by Justin Hammerschmidt in 2011, who at the time was working as a licensed contract builder looking for a new challenge. With a Bachelor Degree in Communications from UTS already under his belt (education is never time wasted), Hammerschmidt began working in the building industry in the mid 1990s. He obtained his builder’s license in 2002 and during this time, worked in a broad range of roles in the building and construction sector from brickie’s labourer, carpenter’s hand, commercial quantities estimator, landscaper, maintenance manager and licensed contract builder.
Today with over 13 years operational experience, we pride ourselves on great communication and a commitment to customer satisfaction. As a small family business we focus on getting it right, rather than ‘getting rich’. We might be reporting on buildings, but buildings are all about People.
As Consulting Inspectors, we have to be thorough, methodical and not miss a trick. But we also need to be able to communicate clearly and with a sense of ‘context’. We are only as good as our last report.
As Professionals, we understand the importance of evolving and keeping up with changing building practices or new technologies. We ‘back our reports’ and the advice we provide. It’s been said to us (more than a few times) that our reports are the easiest to read and the most detailed in the business.

High-Quality Property Inspections and Reports
We specialise in providing high-quality pre-purchase property inspections, vendor reports, new home and pre-settlement inspections, as well as timber pest and termite inspections. Our clients range from home buyers and property investors to vendors, conveyancers, solicitors, real estate agents, home owners, tenants, builders, banks, insurance assessors and Government Departments. Our comprehensive reports are easy to understand and feature a summary, conclusion, and photographs of significant items.
Our inspections and reports comply with relevant Australian Standards, AS 4349 and our inspectors always go the extra mile to exceed those standards where possible. We offer same-day reports upon request and site consultations throughout Sydney. We strongly recommend that all prospective property buyers in Sydney arrange a Combined Building and Pest Inspection service, independant of the Reports that may already exist.
Our Building & Pest Inspectors
Our building inspectors and pest inspectors comply with the relevant Australian Standards, AS 4349.1 and AS 4349.3 – as a minimum level of service, often going ‘above and beyond’ the Standard.
